Transcriptomics

The NASC/GARNet Affymetrix service was set up to provide transcriptional profiling for the community. This service was so successful that by the end of 2003 it had processed 900 chips and the Affymetrix data held at NASC constituted the largest collection of publicly accessible Affymetrix data for any organism worldwide. All the data produced by the NASC microarray service is available through the NASCArrays database and as a CD subscription service called AffyWatch.

The Affymetrix service at NASC has now moved to full cost recovery and provides users with the following:-
1)Pre-service advice and discussion.
2) Email acknowledgement receipt for RNA.
3) Total RNA Quality control
4) cRNA Quality control
5) Affymetrix chip & labelling costs
6) Hybridisation & detection fluidics and materials.
7) Scan, QC and data tracking.
8) Data formatting (various)
9) Users are provided with a CD including:Raw data & Excel formatted data and MIAME compliant auxiliary information.
10) Discussion of data interpretation by email or visit.
11) Six-month default confidentiality on plant data

Also included is a Plant 'After Service' when confidentiality expires including
a) Free construction of XML/MAGE-ML and donation to ArrayExpress (EBI)
b) Inclusion of data into the NASCarrays database and integration into spot history, scatterplot and other tools.
c) Integration of data into PLANET [EU bioinformatics database] and associated links to other data resources.
d) Donation of data to TAIR.
